About Us
Why we exist
Here at Jalapeno Holsters, we are a group of mountain people, that happen to have a machine shop. We live for the outdoors and pay attention to what's going on in our local outdoor community. In Montana, we can't help but check in on what our friends are doing for bear safety before they head out to the wilderness. It doesn't take much time recreating around here until one has their own bear encounter story. Usually, it's unthreatening but still makes our hairs raise. There are those stories though, of people getting charged, mauled, and killed. With more and more people recreating in the mountains it's safe to say that these encounters will happen more often. The best thing we can do for ourselves is get educated on best Bear Safety practices.
As avid hunters, we know what is like to point a loaded weapon at an animal. Our heartbeats are racing, we are breathing heavily, anxiety makes us fumble around with our equipment, we forget to turn the safety off, there are no rounds in the chamber. The list goes on and on of all the mistakes we’ve made in the field. And this is usually while hunting a non-threatening animal. Now imagine if the animal hunting you! How would your reactions be? It's hard to really tell. All too often we see people on the trail with their bear sprays in hard-to-reach places, in cumbersome holsters, or even inside their backpacks. Grizzly Bears can run up to 35 miles per hour. There is absolutely no time to take off a backpack and rummage through gear to find bear spray, especially under pressure. We need practical solutions for this very real problem. And that is why Jalapeno Holsters was born.
We wanted to create the most hassle-free holster imaginable. Something to take away the chance of fumbling around in a high-stakes situation. A product that was truly second nature. And we believe that we did just that.
